Family Roots, Ozarks Soil.

Soil & Stick is a family-run elderberry farm rooted in the heart of the Ozarks. We grow and harvest every berry by hand, using natural methods that respect both the land and the plants. Our family is on a mission to bring pure, farm-grown wellness to our community through the powerful benefits of elderberry. From field to bottle, our family is involved in every step—ensuring each batch reflects the care, quality, and integrity we believe in.

Our journey began in 2020 when we planted 7,500 elderberry cuttings on our Ozarks farm, dreaming of creating something wholesome and lasting. Over the years, those tiny sticks have grown into thriving plants, providing a bountiful harvest that we carefully nurture by hand. Today, our family continues to nurture and expand the farm, cultivating abundant American elderberries while staying true to natural, sustainable practices.

Your Guide to

Soil & Stick

American Elderberries

  • At Soil & Stick, we choose to grow American elderberries (Sambucus canadensis) because they’re perfectly suited to our Ozarks climate and soil. This native variety thrives naturally without the need for harsh chemicals or extra inputs.

Unlike many imported types that must be heated before use, American elderberries can be safely enjoyed without high heat—helping preserve their natural flavor, antioxidants, and beneficial nutrients. The result is a fresher, more potent berry that delivers all the goodness nature intended.

  • We believe the best ingredients come straight from healthy soil. Our elderberries are grown without pesticides or synthetic chemicals, allowing nature to do the work. Every harvest reflects the purity of our land and the care that goes into each plant.

Each berry cluster is hand-harvested at its peak ripeness to ensure optimal flavor and nutrition. After harvest, the berries are immediately departments and frozen to lock in their natural antioxidants and beneficial compounds—so you get the freshest, most nutrient-rich elderberry possible.

  • American elderberries DO NOT have to be heated unlike other varieties.

For the highest nutritional value, a no-heat method like a juice press is best—it keeps more of the berries’ natural antioxidants and flavor intact.

A low-heat method like a steam juicer is another great option if you prefer a gentler process and have access.

If those aren’t available, you can simmer the berries in a pan with a little water, then strain for a rich, homemade juice.

  • American elderberries are incredibly versatile—perfect as raw juice, syrups, teas, shrubs, baked goods, and more.
